From analysising the video of Marjon U11’s through both notational analysis and using the software LongoMatch I decided to focus on all of the KPI’s I focused on during the recording of the game. I chose to do this as it will teach Marjon football team the key aspects of defending and also help fundamental skills, through balance in the tackling section. Whilst doing both sets of analysis there was not a key area that was highlighted. Showing us that Marjon had a range of defending skills through tackling, clearances and passing. Furthermore each of the three areas was mostly equal for all three defenders that we recorded information for. If there was a weakness in the results, a certain area or a certain player, then the session plan could have focused around this however as Marjon only conceded one goal throughout the match it was hard to see a problem. Maybe if I recorded the next week then I could see a difference between each performance. So through making the session plan the key reason behind it was to make the participants aware and knowledgeable of the aspects of defending. By doing this the defenders will be able to further their ability and improve.
I decided to also focus the session around defending as it gave the strikers a chance to improve on their defending skills. As the players I analysed were only U11’s it is more than likely that the positions that they play are not set in stone, meaning that learning different skills could help them improve or even find the position they should be playing. Through making the session plan it also gives everyone the chance to defend by rotating the positions in each activity. By creating the session it also allows the participants to receive feedback from the coach after the last game and also allows the coach to receive feedback at the next game to see if the participants have improved after the training. “The main objective of ... feedback of the game includes optimizing feedback to the performer and coach to improve performance” (Liebermann, Katz, Hughes, Bartlett, McClements & Franks, 2002), this quote reinforces that feedback is important to receive to help improve sessions and performance. By creating this session I was trying to increase their knowledge and by using numerous activities focusing on three different areas I feel like this session would achieve its goal. By setting this session it allows the U11’s to have fun but still learn important techniques and skills. It also gives the participants opportunities to play out of position thus giving them a range of skills.
